Contract Projects

• Andrew Jackson: Good, Evil and the Presidency (PBS) - A large collection of educational materials to accompany the PBS documentary.
  
  
• World Without Oil - Lesson plans designed to accompany the products of the alternative reality game World Without Oil. Students develop reactions to various stages of a fictional oil shortage.

Curriculum Guides

• Modern World History and Western Civilization - Complete courses with standards-based lesson plans, worksheets, notes, and exams.

• A Viewing Guide to World History - A series of PowerPoints and web-based activities to integrate the use of images in the world history curriculum. It also contains student examples.

• AP World History - A web site dedicated to my AP World History class. This site is currently being hosted in a wiki.

• World History Online - Grades, notes, calendar of events, and other information relevant to my 10th grade world history classes. The complete guide is available for other teachers to purchase at the Teaching-Point web site.

• Humanities - Grades, notes, calendar of events, and other information relevant to my 10th grade humanities classes. No longer taught.

• United States History Online - Grades, notes, calendar of events, and other information relevant to my 11th grade U.S. history classes.

Projects in current United States and World history curriculum

• Children of the Holocaust WebQuest - Students write the story of a Holocaust child based upon extensive research.
  
  
• Holocaust Wiki Project - In this project, students create a family from an assigned country that was affected by the Holocaust. Next, they create a branching simulation (think choose your own adventure) and bring their families through the different stages of the Holocaust as they apply to their specific country. This project is done completely online and students use TikiWiki as a publishing tool. It was created as part of a special study I did with Bernie Dodge at SDSU and implements the Ant Farm wiki design pattern.
  
  
• World War 1 Battles Wiki Project -
  
  
• Constructing a Lasting Peace in India and Pakistan - A WebQuest that has students try and build a peace settlement between the two nations that reflect their national interests. This WebQuest integrates Wiki technology. Bernie even mentions this in his NECC presentation on Blog and Wikis as WebQuest tasks.
  
  
• Middle Ages Tournament: Information Jousting - In groups students research different topics, then compete against other groups for control of the classroom kingdom.
  
  
• World War I Strategies - After researching the weapons and strategies of World War I, students utilize their knowledge in an attempt to win WWI battles.
  
  
• Civil War Stories WebQuest - Students examine the human costs of the Civil War. In small groups, they research groups affected by the war and create a short skit or video portraying the thoughts and emotions of those who suffered through America's bloodiest war.
  
  
• Industrial Revolution WebQuest - Students closely examine the British Industrial Revolution and create a newspaper with news articles, an inventor biography, and an opinion article.
  
  
• Propaganda Activity - Students learn about the different types of propaganda techniques. They must then identify the technique used in different propaganda posters. This is part of the Viewing Guide to World History.
  
  
• History Through Art WebQuest - The culminating project in my World History course. Students select an art movement (i.e. Pop Art, Renaissance), research it, connect the movement to the events of the time, and create a work of art that fits into the selected style. This is part of the Viewing Guide to World History.
  
  
• Weapons of World War I - A one day lesson that examines the changes in military technology that took place during World War
  
  
• Global Perceptions on World War II - A telecollaboration less that has students from various parts of the world interview WWII veterans and share their experiences.
  
  
• Searchin' About a Revolution - An online database exporation project that acts as the opening to a unit on revolutions.

Larger Projects not currently used

• Educated Guess - An online current events games where students from around the world predict the future! The last game had a 160 teams from 35 states and three countries! No new games are planned.
  
  
• Nuclear Testing in the South Pacific - A web-based simulation that has students examine France's decision to renew nuclear testing in the South Pacific. A Triton Project. (Under Construction) (8/97)
  
  
• Descent into Monterey Submarine Canyon - An online slide presentation that utilizes Real Audio technology designed for elementary and middle school students studying oceanography. A Triton Project. (6/96)
