Web Design

What started as a hobby and an attempt to use visuals to supplement my lesson plans has turned into a side business. In addition to my own educational web sites, I developed web pages for a number of educational purposes. In the last couple years, I have started offering my services to cliets outside the educational sphere. Context-Designs is the company I have started to continue to expand my consulting, web design, and instructional design.

This represents a complete list of web design projects that are still online.

Educational Sites

• West Hills High School - School where I teach.
• EconEd Foundation - San Diego organization that sponsers programs and events that infuse economics throughout the K-12 curriculum.
• East County Teachers UniServ - Web site for GEA, LMSVTA, LGTA, and CVEA unions.
• GEA-Action.Org - A web site that keeps teachers and commuities members aware of the current labor situation.
• A Viewing Guide to World History - A series of PowerPoints and web-based activities to integrate the use of images in the world history curriculum. It also contains student examples.
• AP World History - Grades, notes, calendar of events, and other infromation relevant to my AP World history class.
• Humanities - Grades, notes, calendar of events, and other information relevant to the 10th grade Humanities classes I am co-teaching with Karly Johnstone. No longer being taught.
• World History Online - Grades, notes, calendar of events, and other information relevant to my 10th grade world history classes.
• United States History Online - Grades, notes, calendar of events, and other information relevant to my 11th grade world history classes. Current not teaching this course.

• VIIDAI Collaborative - A static site combined with a customized open source content management system.
• Kevin Lock Photography - A web site for a local San Diego photographer.
• Queen Geek Social Club - A web site for the book of the same name by Laura Preble.
• SCR - A business consultant's web site.

Sites No Longer Active

• Brothers Warren Wellness Center - Chiropratic web site I created for a good friend of mine - he now manages his own web site through a content management system. Visit his site.
• Preble's Prose - West Hill's English teacher Laura Preble is also a published author. She has moved her site to the Queen Geek Social Club site.
• Geography Alliance for Greater San Diego - The original idea was to house important information regrading the organization's events and activities. Unfortunately, it never got beyond the design phase. It is still one of my favorite designs.
• Hair Daddy - Traded a year's worth of haircuts for this one. Never actually made it online.
• Dan McDowell Online, Version Two (1996), Version Four (1999), and Version Five (2001) - I have redesigned my personal web site seven times in the last ten years. The current look is version number seven. I'm glad version three is missing, I am a bit embarassed by the shag carpet background (really!). I'm sorry about that one.
