Part 1: Background

Task
During this part of the project, you will be developing the family that will guide you through the different stages of the Holocaust. It is important that you consider your assigned geographic location. Your background will include:
- Life in your country before the Nazis came to power. This section is important to understand how life much life changed at the arrival of the Nazis. It should include the role of Jews in the city or country you have been assigned.
- Authentic names for your country and religion.
- A short biography of each person. This is where you will begin to develop your characters. You want to make them real people, include interests, jobs, and anything about the family dynamic that might play into the story later.
Process
- Use the Background Resource Links and the Country Links to research your country and possible names.
- Create your background page in the appropriate project site using the following titles:
- Life before the Nazis
- Family Member: Name and Role
- Family Member: Name and Role
- Family Member: Name and Role
- Family Member: Name and Role
You can determine the make up of the family. You may go with a traditional family with two parents and two children or include grandparents or other family members.
