Developing the Branching Simulation
Task
Based upon the background you developed in Part 1, develop a branching simulation. Requirements include:
- At least 12 major decision points.
- Each decision point must provide a description of events leading up to the decision (it could include dialogue, description of actions by family members and others). Major events in your country should be included here.
- Each decision point must have only two choices. For each choice, a description of the pros and cons should be discussed.
- Specific consequences for each choice should start the next decision point page.
- An Intersection Point with at least one group at a location and situation to be determined by the groups.
- The stages of the Holocaust relevant to your country (as listed on the Country Requirements page)
- An instance of rescue by a non-Jew or an instance of resistance - successful or not.
- All of your decision paths need to end. Either in survival or death. Be sensitive in these descriptions, you are basing these simulations of the actual events and people.
Process
- The instructor will review the requirements of the branching simulation and provide an overview of the web site resources.
- Using the provide Resource Links and Country Links, student groups will develop a Progression of Events Chart that incorporates the specific Country Requirements. Be sure to make arrangements with at least one other group for an Intersection Point.
- Once the Progression of Events Chart has been approved by the teacher, you will begin development of the Decision Points pages.
- You will start your branching simulation on the Background page your completed in Part 1. ( Period 1 | Period 2 | Period 3 | Period 4 )
- When finished, your group must complete the Final Project Check Off sheet and have the instructor sign off on it.
Helpful Hints
- Team members may work on different pages at the same time, but NEVER the same page at the same time.
- Write up your descriptions in Word first, so you can spell check your work.
- When linking the Decision Points, make sure you are naming the links appropriately.
- Proof read your teams entries and make changes any appropriate changes.
- If time allows, proof read another groups branching simulation, making appropriate changes.
